Here we go again. Thousands of Twitter passwords have been hacked.
In this post I’ll tell you a little bit about how to protect yourself and how to help reduce the problem for others!

Step 1 : How to detect the threat and prevent your password from being hacked.
In most cases you can easily prevent your Twitter password from being hacked. 9 out of 10 cases the hack will simply be posted into your DM box by one of your twitter contact (who have been hacked already). Although the text may differ it it usually something like the picture i’ve posted below (click to enlarge)
The DM will include a link DONT CLICK IT (!!!!!!) this link will hack your password.
Bottom line: if you have ANY DOUBT that your contact might have posted this message don’t click the link…
Step 2: Warn the person who’s account has been hacked and just sent you the hacked DM
Send a message (NOT VIA DM) to the person you’ve just received the infected DM from he/she probably doesn’t know their account has been hacked. So write a new (open) message and @-mention the person. Use a message (in the language you would normally communicate in with this person) like :
“I’ve just received a infected Twitter DM – reset your Twitter PW asap”.
Once your contact has reset the password the hackers no longer have acces to their accounts (normally).
If you have any other means of contacting the person who’s account has been hacked please do so and tell them to reset their password and prevent other accounts being hacked.
Step 3: How to reset your Twitter password
If you are logged in (via the webbrowser version) go to : https://twitter.com/settings/password and follow instructions.
If you are not logged in or can’t access your account anymore go to : https://twitter.com/account/resend_password and follow instructions.
What to do if resetting Twitter password does not solve the problem ?!
If resetting the password does not help fixing your (of your friends) problem then it could also be the case that you’ve granted acces to a related APP which uses the Twitter API. Check all your permissions for external applications (after logging in) via the link : https://twitter.com/settings/applications
Here you’ll see a list of all applications that have access to your Twitter account. If you don’t trust any of the applications just hit ‘REVOKE ACCESS’. Please be carefull – apps that you use, but might have forgotten about (for example because you have granted this access many many months ago), will NOT be able to use the Twitter API anymore and might not function anymore!

Blender Institute 3D animation film : ” SINTEL ” … Awesome …

Some of you might already know the 3D animation software package, Blender.
They recently released version 2.63 (more information on via this link).
If you been checking out some successful short 3D animation films and games you might already have stumbled across some material made with this software.
The Blender Institute (an independent Foundation) Blender Institute, run by Ton Roosendaal, also releases their own productions (movie / games). They produce these productions in an ‘open project’ structure (for more info on that please visit their site) and produce high quality productions on relatively low budgets.

The latest Blender Institute project is called “SINTEL” and premiered at the Netherlands Festival in september 2010. The animation looks stunning! Check it out (for the nerds amongst you: this is a 4K 3D animation 
)
I can’t wait for the release of their latest project, ” MANGO” (currently in production and expected to premiere in september 2012).

I just watched this incredible interview with former KODAK CMO Jeff Hayzlett. I thought I heard myself talking. His approach is exactly how my company Fictoor Wagelaar crossmedia marketing communication approaches our clients projects.

First video impression of Startup Weekend Enschede (Netherlands)

As you might know my company Fictoor Wagelaar crossmedia marketing communication sponsored the fist ever Startup Weekend in Enschede (#swens on twitter), The Netherlands (also check out the site at : http://enschede.startupweekend.org) We also coached some of the teams on saturday which was a lot of fun!
Here’s a video-impression of this very special weekend at the 100 year old building “Spinnerij Oosterveld” which currently is being used as a business center and features an event-hall called “the lounge” in which the presentations were held. With a turn-up of over 120 guests at the closing night (pitches and announcement of the winner : Truienradar) the event has been a great succes!

I’ve had an extremely busy week and it was special enough to share it with you!
Two cool moments in one week!
First of all I was featured in a article (by Jeroen Mirck) about GOOGLE+ in one of the leading Magazines for Marketing in the Netherlands; ADFORMATIE. As one of the early adaptors and actually implementing G+ for our clients within their marketingcommunication mix my opion was asked about the platform. The article is in Dutch (PDF) but has selectable text so could be translated through something like Google Translate.

Saturday I coached a couple of the teams working on their concept and that was energizing and inspirational.

Protest against SOPA very strong (videos, cartoons, links)

More and more people, organisations and companies are speaking out against SOPA.

Artikel over Jij en Overijssel concept in Huis aan Huis kranten Overijssel (in Dutch)

Vorig jaar nam Christian Fictoor deel aan het project ‘Droomfabriek’ van de Provincie Overijssel. Het idee was simpel: beschrijf jouw ultieme droom, deel dit en zorg dat je idee ook door anderen ondersteund wordt.
Het concept van Christian Fictoor won en daarmee mocht hij het concept presenteren aan de provincie Overijssel.

I found this amazing infographics (source: http://www.go-globe.com/) about what happens on the web in 60 seconds (!).
The numbers are staggering and here are some conclusions:
- More Facebook posts per minute then Google searches
- E-mail is still (by far!) the most used of all ‘channels’
- The rise of mobile: more then 13.000 apps downloaded for Iphone (IOS) and more then 7500* apps downloaded for Android every minute
- More and more crossmedia content (images, video, music)
